An investor in digital start-ups is seeking a Procurement / Senior Buyer initially on a freelance basis with a view to coming on board permanently in the future to work remotely but must be based in UK, ideally South East.

This is a start-up company, with entrepreneurs heading it up, who have a track record in profitable digital businesses already, who have spent the last few years creating and writing an intelligent AI algorithm which looks at thousands of FMCG SKU's and identifies products that could potentially be sourced, bought and resold for a large profit margin. They are now ready to move forward with the business, now that the shipping, logistics, warehousing and everything is in place.

The largest portfolio investment is in retail E-commerce arbitrage start up that trades to exploit price differences of FMCGs between different markets, offering savings to global customers through its website.

The job involves:

• Researching, to identify global suppliers of finished branded genuine FMCG goods (not The Manufacturer, The Manufacturers regional importer/distributor or Retailers are owned by Manufacturer, but other dealers).
• Make contact by calling the supplier, and then following up with email
• Negotiate with them to secure the lowest most favourable terms,
• Bring to Directors the supplier with terms, min order quantities and complete procurement.
• You will be liaising with suppliers on a regular basis and will always be looking to change and optimise the terms and supply base.
• Unusually, you will be sourcing across multiple consumer goods categories making the role particularly exciting, allowing you to interact in entirely different Countries, commercial niches, products, and suppliers, daily.

Experience
You will have:

• Several years' experience as a Buyer/Procurement/Sourcing Professional
• Sourced finished goods, with experience across several FMCG Verticals
• Career-long experience of working with and negotiating with international suppliers from SMEs to Enterprise-Level.
• Experience in International Importation and the operational and commercial risks that arise from having international suppliers.
• Knowledge of purchasing principles, procedures, and terminology.

What's on offer:

• Remote working - occasional meet up with Directors
• For every product you bring on board you'll be paid c. £500, bring on 6 a month, that's £3K for you.
• Flexible hours - probably 2-3 days/evenings per week with the opportunity of a full time position in the future.
• Phone bill, expenses paid.
